Professor Md. Zahir Uddin Arif has long working experience as an academician, researcher, Ph.D/M.Phil/MS theses supervisor and foreign external examiner, keynote speaker and track/session chair in international conferences, webinars and symposiums, WTO-certified trainer, marketing, brand and HR adviser/consultant, volunteer, development analyst, distinguished visiting/adjunct professor, resource person, member of the trustee board, academic council and board of advanced studies and research and advisor of various reputed institutions and universities of home and abroad; an editor/advisory board member and editorial reviewer of international journals and book chapters of edited books published by IGI Global, Springer-Nature, Emerald Publishing, Inderscience Publishers and other reputed global publishers, universities and research societies; and a contributor to the Asian and African development for more than two decades. Professor Arif teaches undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate level students and supervises academic & professional research projects and theses (BBA, MBA, EMBA/PMBA, M.Phil, and Ph.D. Programs) at the Department of Marketing, Faculty of Business Studies, Jagannath University (www.jnu.ac.bd), Dhaka, Bangladesh. He performed his administrative duties as Chairman and MBA (Evening) Program Director at the Department of Marketing and Assistant Proctor at Jagannath University. He was a Member of the Academic Council, Board of Advanced Studies and Research, and Business Studies Faculty Executive Committee of Jagannath University. He has also taught and professional experiences as a Visiting Professor/Adjunct Professor/Guest Speaker in various universities and institutions at home and abroad including Burdwan University, Bharath University (BIHER), India, Department of Management, IILM College of Engineering & Technology, Greater Noida, India, Top Talents, Egypt, Dhaka School of Economics (DScE), a constituency institute of Dhaka University, East West University, Ahsanullah University of Science & Technology, Stamford University Bangladesh, ASA University Bangladesh, City University, Southeast University, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), Institute of Bankers Bangladesh (IBB), Bangladesh Institute of Management (BIM), Government Titumir College, Mirpur College, and Daffodil Institute of Information Technology (DIIT). Professor Arif has served the teachers' community as the Treasurer (elected)of the Executive Committee of Jagannath University Teachers Association (JnUTA) 2020-2021 for the second time with his earlier community service as the Treasurer (elected) of JnUTA 2017 and served as the Chief Election Commissioner of the Executive Committee Election of JnUTA 2018. He has also served from 2018 to 2021 as the Convenor of the Committee of the Faculty of Business Studies, and in 2022 as a Vice-President of the Executive Committee, Jagannath University NeelDal (An Association of Progressive Teachers Believing in the ideology of Bangabandhu, Bangalee Nationalism, Secularism and the Spirit and Values of Freedom Fighting of Bangladesh). On 30th August 2017 (Wednesday), as a memorable day and remarkable teamwork and heart-felt fellow feelings, a five members representative team (President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and General Secretary) of Jagannath University Teachers Association 2017 including Professor Arif and the then Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University Professor Mijanur Rahman met and discussed with Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh H.E. Sheikh Hasina at Prime Minister’s Office at Dhaka about the development of Jagannath University campus and its facilities and handed over one-day salary contributions of the respected faculty members of Jagannath University to the Honorable Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. With due respect, as the Treasurer of JnUTA 2017, Professor Arif urged the Honorable Prime Minister H.E. Sheikh Hasina to develop the Jagannath University to an international standard ensuring all facilities with her kind and heartfelt initiatives and contributions in this regard. Professor Arif also served as Head of the Self Assessment Committee (SAC) of the Department of Marketing, Jagannath University under the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), HEQEP, University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, funded by The World Bank. He also contributed as Deputy Sub-Project Manager of the TSIDP Sub-Project Management Team (SPMT), Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, funded by The World Bank. As a certified Trainer of WTO, he contributed earlier as a Consulting Member and Resource Person on TBT (Technical Barriers to International Trade) issues in favor of the International Trade Centre, WTO, Geneva, Switzerland. Professor Arif was awarded the prestigious ‘Most Outstanding Professor Award 2020’ in the Global EduTech Webinar on 27 October 2020, organized and awarded by World Education Congress, anonymously nominated by its Advisory Council and selected by its Global Jury Board, and endorsed by World CSR Day, World Federation of Academic & Educational Institutions and Thought Leaders.
